Gadar 2 Movie Review – Is It Worth Watching?
So after long decades, the makers of the Gadar movie introduced us to Gadar 2. The fans of Sunny Deol are celebrating his comeback. The box office collection of Gadar crossed 40 Lakhs on the first day. And everyone knows this movie will be a super hit. And the reason is clear that is Sunny Paaji and his outstanding performance.
But is it really worth watching Gadar 2? What about his storyline, Cast, Performace, and direction? And we will discuss it in this article. So let’s dive in.
Gadar 2 Storyline :
Gadar 2 is much like the original, with Tara Singh, who loves his country a lot, going to Pakistan again. This time, he wants to save his strong son from the cruel Major General Hamid Iqbal. But here’s the thing: why should we watch a similar story unless there’s something new?
The story happens in 1971 when there might be a war. Tara and Sakeena are happy in their small place, while their son Charanjeet doesn’t know what to do. When there’s a fight at the border and Tara disappears, Jeete goes to rescue him. This starts a series of loud gunfights, angry soldiers, and mean Pakistanis chasing our heroes. There are many intense scenes that sometimes seem hard to believe, all made to show how brave and patriotic the duo is.
Gadar 2 Movie Review :
After 22 years since Gadar: Ek Prem Katha made a big impact at the cinemas, Anil Sharma brings a new part that tries to bring back the strong love for our country and family during times of war. It even shows the importance of everyone being treated the same, no matter their beliefs. “India belongs to Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and all Indians.”
But the film has a weak starting point. In the first film, the feelings about the lives lost and the tough times after the partition touched people’s hearts. The love story across borders and a story of survival made you feel deeply as it had a strong emotional core, even with strong words.
However, the second part struggles to make you feel the same way. Gadar 2 tries to use good memories, dramatic dialogue, and slow-motion action, but it lacks a story or reason to tie it all together.
Sakeena’s dad Ashraf Ali (played by Amrish Puri) is not alive anymore. Tara Singh faces a new enemy in Hamid Iqbal, a General in the Pakistani Army. He does cruel things, like cutting off people’s heads if they show loyalty to the Bhagavad Gita instead of the Quran. War is coming in 1971 because India is involved with East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), and Iqbal wants revenge for this and for the past. He captures and hurts Tara’s son in Pakistan.
The son crosses the border to find his father. This makes Tara do what he did a long time ago, but this time it’s for his son. The son’s love story in Pakistan with Muskaan (played by Simrat Kaur) feels like it doesn’t matter and isn’t needed. The second part seems like a stretched-out version of the first with a wandering story that goes on for more than 2 hours and 45 minutes.
The good things about the movie are its music and Sunny Deol’s performance. Sung by Udit Narayan once again, Mithoon’s version of Uttam Singh’s beautiful song ‘Udd jaa Kaale Kaava’ stands out. It brings out more feelings and memories than the whole movie combined.

2. Overstretched Plot: The film struggles with a meandering plot that goes on for over 2 hours and 45 minutes. This extended runtime doesn’t contribute positively to the storytelling and might leave viewers feeling fatigued.
3. Superficial Love Track: The love story involving Tara’s son in Pakistan seems irrelevant and unnecessary. It doesn’t contribute significantly to the plot and may distract from the central themes of the film.
4. Lack of Emotional Connection: While the original film had a strong emotional core, the sequel fails to elicit the same level of emotional engagement. Dialogue-driven scenes and slow-motion action lack the impact needed to resonate with the audience.
